Aloha Steak House (ASH)

During my visits to Honolulu, I had too much of Japanese food and crave for steak for a little bit, while there are a lot of Steak houses there, but Aloha Steak House (ASH) with the affordable pricing caught my eyes.
4 pieces of garlic shrimps + Brussels sprouts + corns + rib eyes served on sizzle hot iron plate is priced at $33, I would this is a bang for the buck. The shrimps are deep fried and served with some fried minced garlic which complements the flavor of the shrimps, I don't consume prawn heads but the remains are either crunchy or you able chew it off. It tastes so good that other than the head, I finished everything off, puff. The steak is okay, not exceptionally great but not bad too, it was cooked medium rare and served with butter. The butter acts as moisturizer for the whole dish, makes it sizzles, but make no mistake, the steak was well cooked, when I cut the steak, I could see the juice oozed out, plus, the steak was well rested on the plate, you could leave it longer on the plate if you wanted to balance the juices across all sections of the meat, but it's not a huge slab of meat anyway, I would say it's not that necessary. Bottom line is, I couldn't really taste the butter, so it doesn't affect the whole experience.
One fun thing about this steak house is that they provide you disposable apron, I picked the six pack design, just to hypnotize myself it's okay to eat so much, lol.... It is not only fun but thoughtful idea, because when they brought you the steak while it's still sizzling on the plate, you don't want the juices mess up with your clothes, you get the idea.

Lastly, I finished my dinner with watermelon soft serve, it's very refreshing. They put some chocolate chips on the ice cream as decoration, they also use green coloring for the cone, these are just to make it looks a little bit more like watermelon. It tastes good, my only complaint is that its a little bit sweet thus overtakes the watermelon flavor. It's not bad, just that if they made it less sweet, may be the watermelon flavor will stand out better. I could still taste the watermelon flavor, and it's not a bit choice, it still taste very good and I would still recommend anyone visits ASH to try this.

If you ever want to make a visit, I would recommend you to make a reservation, as you can see their seating plan above, they don't have a lot of seats. So, do expect to wait a little bit if you didn't make reservation, I visited it on Friday night before 7pm and waited in line for 15 minutes shy. Hope you all like this post.

High Finance Restaurant

I couldn't wake up earlier on the first day of Hot Air Balloons Fiesta. I rushed out at 5.00am to one of the temporary Park and Ride facility located at Amusement Park, Osuna Road, but it was fully occupied, the line to board the buses was crazily long too. So, I changed my plan, I went to Sandia Peak Tramway in that morning instead. During lunch hour, they stopped tram service due to bad weather, so I visited the only restaurant at the top of the mountain, High Finance Restaurant . You can reserve your table by phone ( 505) 243-9742, or open table, or before you ride the tram.  The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, it's good for hanging out and also for family gathering. The middle section of the restaurant is bar. Through my hiking around the area, I believe the view from the restaurant is breathtaking during sunny day. I would opt this place as proposal location, if it ever happen, :D  I ordered a medium cooked Kobe burger, added mushrooms, onions, and chedda...

The Grove Cafe and Market

During my visit to Albuquerque for Hot Air Balloons Fiesta, I had my breakfast, and dinner at the event venue, so I decided to try something new. I searched for most reviewed restaurants in Albuquerque posted on Yelp, and I found this cafe,  http://www.thegrovecafemarket.com/ . It's located at Albuquerque downtown,  600 Central Ave Se Ste A, Albuquerque, NM 87102. It's a busy cafe, I arrived at 1.00pm and there are lines to place order or pick up pre-ordered food. Surprisingly the waiting for food is not that bad, I sat down at 1.16pm and got my coffee at 1.21pm, and my food Croque Medame at 1.23pm. Croque Medame has Black Forest Ham, Tomato, Whole Grain Mustard, Gruyere Cheese, and Sunny Side Up eggs on Rustic Loaf with fruits on the side. It's awesome, I love it. I see plenty of seats available for party of 2, you might need to wait for a while if more than 2, however the servers are friendly to help you out. The restaurant has plenty of space and tables ...
